Abbas, in “All Males Are the Same: Exploring Workplace Harassment of Female Employees,” addresses the issue of workplace sexual harassment towards females being common in many countries, specifically the middle east. The article explores how workplace sexual harassment towards women contributes to the cause of gender inequality. Abbas supports his claim with a number of case studies. First, his findings suggest how workplace harassment is a universal problem and it is embedded within the traditions of society. Second, he examines how the unequal treatment of women is inevitable because of the dominance among religious and cultural perspectives. Third, he explains how men have higher social and economic power which leads to the workplace issues such as sexual harassment and gender inequality. As a result, sexual harassment among women is due to the values and cultural aspects embedded among society, the practices lead to gender inequality among the workplace.

Abdel- Hameid, in “Sexual Harassment in the Workplace,” reveals how violence, sexual harassment, towards women has a negative impact towards them and contributes to economic, physical, and psychological problems. Abdel- Hameid supports his claim with a number of qualitative analyses, through interviews with women and men in the workforce. First, he explains the different types of harassment women may experience in the workplace such as, verbal harassment and how it is used as a form of intimidation. Second, he analyzes how sexual harassment is accompanied by a culture of silence, which suggest the victim provoked the harasser in such ways, intimidation is then used to make the victim believe they were at fault. Third, he states the complications women may face when reporting their harasser to top management because they do not have enough evidence, which arises the issue of her word against his. As a result, sexual harassment, as perceived by many women, is unwelcomed and unaccepted and it leads to insecurity, like creating an unhealthy workplace environment. The problems created can also lead to emotional distress by the manner in which the harassment in handled. Carstensen infers how understanding the term sexual harassment can lead to gender equality within the workplace. Carstensen supports her claim with a number of sociological studies defined by key terms. First, in reference to the concept of sexual harassment, she supports her claim by clarifying the relationship between the terms subjective and objective. Second, she further describes how diffusing the perceptions by how women are viewed by their male coworkers, such as sexual objects. Third, she suggests there is not enough awareness in supporting women to come forward and report sexual harassment. However, Carstensen implies if a victim considers it sexual harassment, but doesn’t not report it, it may not be interpreted as the victim presents it. As a result, understanding the terms that are in relation to sexual harassment can lead to gender equity in the workforce.
