The Evolution of the IPhone
Apple's iPhones have come along way. To the amount of storage you can hold to the invention of iCloud. The iPhone has changed people's daily lives and have let people experience different experiences. There are several approaches that the company has made to improve a person's experience by advancing the amount of apps and the quality of them. The evolution of the iPhone shows the drastic changes and creations that has improved the content of the product.
In 2005, Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, developed an idea of the first touchscreen device that could interact with a computer.
He conceived the idea of a triple layer touch screen device. This idea helped with the removal of the keyboard and by replacing the mouse with your finger. He recruited and hired multiple engineers to the help make this idea an invention. With Job's and his crew's electrical intelligence, they made history by producing the first iPhone to be created for generations to enjoy.
The first iPhone was announced by Steve Jobs on January 9th of 2007 at the Macworld convention. Even before the public was able to put their hands on an iPhone, the hype was up. The first iPhone is the first smartphone to be on the market. This product has changed the whole ball game in the smartphone industry today. The second iPhone, known as the iPhone 3G, replaced the flaws of its predecessor. This phone replaced the aluminum and the plastic back for a solid piece of curved plastic. This newest iPhone was released on June 29th of 2007. The internal memory of it is 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB. Apple completely redesigned the model and and supports 3G networks. This allowed users to download files and surf the web much faster. Apple's CEO Steve Jobs upgraded the model with a sleeker and smoother design, texture, and surface. This phone also gave people more opportunities to open applications on your phone that aren't provided by the Apple company. Once again, people stood on line around the world waiting for this new iPhone. This phone was released on July 11, 2008 and allowed users to use a new and improved GPS and location services.
The next iPhone to be created was the iPhone 3GS. The "S" stood for speed. This phone featured a faster processor than its predecessor. It also worked on faster 3G networks. Although the design and model is the same as the 3G, the network connection is twice as fast and is also less expensive. People once again, stood on line to get the newest phone. This phone hit the market on June 19, 2009 and featured 8GB, 16GB and 32GB models.
The iPhone 4 was then again a hit phone. The iPhone 4 brought many changes and features. The new model of the phone was sleek and flat. It also featured the first front facing camera. With the help and use of it, this sparked a new generation of the "selfie" and a new feature called "Facetime". People were excited and hyped about the first edition of HD video. This was also accompanied by the new high definition Retina screen. This new edition to the Apple family has sparked a great interest to the newest iPhone that will be released later.
After Steve Jobs stepped down from his position as CEO due to his declining and poor health, people were concerned about the quality of the newest Apple products will be in jeopardy. But good news sparked the Apple community when he left the position of CEO in good hands when the iPhone 4s was later released on October 4, 2011. A command voice system called Siri was unveiled alongside with a new model of 64GB, the largest one yet. Apple is known for their supportive and energetic fans who will stand in line all day for the newest phone.
The iPhone 5 revealed to have a bigger and brighter screen. At a premier Apple event, Apple's CEO Tim Cook announced the iPhone 5 to have the first 4-inch screen. And finally, the first smartphone to support 4G LTE. This was also the first time that any iPhone carried the first IOS update, created by software chief Scott Forstall. Months after the big launch of this phone, carriers were allowed to sell this phone: T Mobile, Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and Sprint. This was around the time when the head of T Mobile, John Legere, started a massive change to the company and got things started.
The iPhone 5s was the next phone to be released alongside with the iPhone 5c. This was the first time that smartphones have been introduced and released smartphones at the same time. The 5s was refined with increasing the speed and the graphics ability. This iPhone introduced the Touch ID fingerprint scanner that is built into the home button of the phone. With this new creation of the Touch ID, this influenced the creation of Apple Pay. The iPhone 5c was known to be the more affordable option for people who didn't want to spend the money on the iPhone 5s. This phone is a little more colorful than the 5s by introducing the colors of white, green, pink, yellow, and blue. This also marked the introduction of the iOS 7 with a new flattering design.
In 2014, Apple shifted gears to the different phone design which slimmed and added a little sheen. This was the birth of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. At the same time, they increased the screen size by 4.7 inches for the regular iPhone 6 and for the iPhone 6 Plus, by 2 more inches. Although this phone may seem a lot like the recent phone that Apple has released, the 5s, it has some improvement to it and new features. This iPhone complimented the Touch ID by installing the Near-Field Communication (NFC) for the first time, innovating the technology of the use of Apple Pay. The Retina display has also been updated and HD. The ability to have a phone with 128 GB is also available. Apple then again, had a massive sell with 10 million phones in the first week.
In the following year, the iPhone 6s & 6s Plus was released. The phone may look very similar to the original iPhone 6 but on the inside, Apple is renovated it quite a lot. Apple took a great leap by replacing the camera from 8MP to 12MP. They also introduced a new color, Rose Gold, which really sparked the people's interest and is popularly picked today. Of course the phone still has its famous home button with the Touch ID. After the iPhone 6 has major bending issues, Apple made sure to install 7000 series aluminum to make sure this problem never happens again. This phone broke the iPhone 6's record of the phones sold on the first week by 13 Million.
In September of 2016, the iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus was released. With this phone, Apple dropped the original option of having a 16 GB base model and bumped it up to have 32 GB. Apple also revealed a new sleek and sexy color, Jet Black. The iPhone 7 proved to be more popular than the 6s due to the new color and dual camera display for better quality images. One controversy that broke out with the iPhone 7 is the removal of the headphone jack. Earpods were shipped with the phone with an additional Lightning cord and charging adapter. Apple introduced their AirPods at the same event that they announced the elimination of the headphone jack. The AirPods served as wireless headphone for a better and stress free experience.
The following year in September, the iPhone 8 was released. The iPhone 8 introduces a brand new glass design. It also featured new space gray, silver, and gold finishes. This phone also now water and dust resistant. With the new glass finish came the invention of wireless charging. Apple embedded a wireless charging system into the phone and now provides charging stations called AirPower mats for a quick and futuristic experience which will charge your compatible iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods.
Later that year in November, Apple again released a fan favorite phone, the iPhone X. The iPhone X has the same new glass as its predecessor, which means; wireless charging. One shocking reveal about this phone is the home button is nowhere to be found. Instead of unlocking the phone with the home button, you now have the ability to swipe up to unlock it instead. Apple also introduced the new and improved the use of the Touch ID. Instead of Touch ID, it is a new feature called Face ID. Face ID allows the user to unlock their phone in a matter of seconds by a small laser that scans over your face. In conclusion, the marriage between software and intelligent engineers that has transformed the way we live, communicate, and feel.
