About Teenage Suicide
“Every day, families all around the world lose someone close to them due to suicide, teenage suicide plays a big part among the numbers of those who take their own life. Teenagers are faced with a variety of problems daily and sometimes when those problems stay unsolved many teenagers tend to take their own life and commit suicide. As a result, suicide is one of the leading causes of death in teenagers in today America. Some of the issues that lead to teenagers suicide include teenager’s high level of stress, teenagers that are working under intense pressure, teenagers that are living far from their support systems such as families and friends, and teenagers that are being bullied. When those factors present in a teenager’s life they can try to commit suicide.
Teenagers would commit suicide if something devastating happened in their lives, that will lead them to deal with a series of unwanted emotions. Stress plays a big part in how people react to things, sometimes stress can lead to taking positive actions such as one fear of failing a class will simply study just to avoid a failing grade. However, stress has not always resulted in a positive outcome, especially when it comes to teenagers that haven’t had enough experience to help them deal with certain issues properly.
Another cause of teenagers suicide is teenagers that are working under intense pressure. It is good for ones to push himself/herself to do things that will lead to success. However, when anyone constantly works under intense pressure, that can cause a person to feel depressed or have anxiety. According to blogs.unicef.org, “Extreme pressure to perform academically, bullying at school, and violence and abuse in teens home and community can all contribute to suicide.” Regardless of what a person is trying to achieve whether it is school related or work-related, working under constant pressure will not end well. Especially towards teenagers because this is the age where they will be going through a lot of changes, and having those changes while under intense pressure will not make the process easier which is one of many reasons it can lead to teenagers suicide.
Teenagers who went away to college, and who are living away from their support systems such as families and friends also tend to commit suicide due to their non-use of their new and unusual environment. Most teenagers are too excited about the thought of going away to college that they have never stopped to wonder how moving away from their loved ones will affect them. Going away to college is an exciting experience however, it can also be too overwhelmed for certain teenagers to the extent that it causes one to take his/her own life.
The last factor that can cause teenage suicide is being bullied. Bullying sometimes is a subject some adults do not take seriously. According to bullyingstatistics.org, “Too many adults still see bullying as ‘just part of being a kid,’ it is a serious problem that leads to many negative effects for victims, including suicide. Many people may not realize that there is also a link between being a bully and committing suicide.” Perhaps it is because no parents want to look at their child as someone who would bully another child, but being bullied is something everyone should take seriously as it can lead to a person taking their own life.
In conclusion, teen suicide is something everyone should be aware of and take seriously, anyone who notices anyone including teenagers signs of committing suicide should try to interfere. Offered help when you notice someone going through a tough time such as stress, working under intense pressure, someone who just got relocated because those are the moments when most people are prone to negative thinking.
