Media is quickly evolving, especially social media that has captured the attention of many children. There are new forms of media that are coming up with the rapid rise in technology. It is clear that media has been influential factors on how it benefits children’s interaction. Media is not only an essential part in influencing socialization among children, especially the peer group but now it has become part of the community marketing and motivation of people. However, it has been an influential factor in children because it has improved their interaction. This paper will present how media has been a benefiting factor in children’s interaction. Next, it will give examples on how interaction is benefitting the children with regards to media.
Finally, it will present how media has impacted children of today. Media has changed how children communicate and how they share information. Most websites offer interactions of the youths through Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and many blogs. With the rise in new applications on photography and smartphones, and video made digital, has made media simple because peers can now create it, edit and share to each other as a form of interaction. Though the new technological advances, media has been able to benefit children’s interaction further. Communication is getting simplified, and children can reach other fellow children in different parts of the country.
Media has also allowed children to maintain touch, especially in communications when they travel away from others. Medial is not only used for social interaction, but it also forms an essential aspect of the lives of children born in this new digital generation. Media provides an avenue for children to stay connected with new friends they have met in school, church and even sports. More importantly, social networking has helped many shy adolescents to be able to interact with their peers in a more non-threatening way for those who do not prefer face-to-face interactions. Also, media has provided an opportunity for many teens to connect with fellow teens with whom they share a common interest.
It is evident that there are social media sites created for the provision of children with platforms to share their various interests in blogs, art, games, and music with their online friends. Children undergo many personal problems, especially teens and most of them get frustrated at times because they do not trust others with their problems. Thanks to media because it has provided platforms where children can share their minds and seek advice from online specialists. Online interactions benefit the children because their problems can now be solved without involving friends who may later misquote them or tell their parents who might misjudge them. Children who use Facebook and other media platform have been realized to demonstrate more sense of virtual empathy.
Various research done on the impact of media on children indicate that networking can be somewhat easier or a positive way for children to get to know and learn to become accepting of other children and people from diverse backgrounds. Media also provide social support that aids children in their interaction with others. Teenage children can easily interact with anonymous people online and seek medical advice in case one is undergoing some conditions of concern. In today’s society, media has been a contributing factor in improving how children learn.
Media forms the primary teacher of children and equipping them with suitable interaction skills required of them. Many children spend much of their time in media including watching, gaming, streaming and many other forms. These are critical factors in influencing a child’s learning process. Media help children by expanding their knowledge past the class environment, and it gives them the general idea of what to expect in the outside world when they are all alone. For the young children, it is notable that the first two years of their life is crucial for their brain development. It is during this stage that appropriate forms of media, particularly television programs help in capturing their attention and in the determination of how they will interact with others.
Television is an influential teacher to toddlers because from it children can learn useful lessons about the alphabet, simple arithmetic, harmony, and cooperation. These experiences can later be incorporated in their various schools and positively influence how they treat and interact with their fellows at school. Some public television programs help in stimulating children to visit libraries, zoos, museums, bookstore, and other better recreational settings that are educational and advantageous for their moral and academic upbringing. Over the weekends, there are church services broadcasted in televisions, these help in the spiritual education of the children and it assists them in learning about peace, love, and harmony that is required of everyone.
To sum up, media serves a better role in benefiting children’s interaction. Children can now learn new things and get to know people and maintain communication with friends. Media has been a revolutionary in the life of children today and how they handle themselves. It has improved interactions, and it is a critical factor in promoting ethical behavior among children.
