Causes of World War i
The main cause of World War I was the assassination of Austro-Hungarian Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Here are the causes of the assassination. First, in 1908 Austria annexes Bosnia & Herzegovina. Next, in 1914 June 28 the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie are visiting Sarajevo which was in Austria-Hungary but now the capital of Bosnia & Herzegovina. There is a scheme to attack the family by the group Young Bosnians. Gavrilo Princip assassinated Franz Ferdinand and Sophie because the drivers took the wrong route which made Gavrilo Princip walk up to them and shoot them. The effect of this event was Austria signing an ultimatum to Serbia which the Austria declared War on Serbia. The Russians did not like this and joined World war I to join on the Serbians side.
In 1879 Germany and Austria-Hungary signed a treaty called the Dual Alliance Treaty which says Germany & Austria-Hungary will protect each other if the Russia attacks. This causes Germany to join World War I. Since Russia and France also have an Alliance. Germany declares war on Russia on August 1, 1914 and on August 3, 1914 Germany declares war on France. The Germans declared war via Belgium, because of this Britain declares war on Germany because they have a treaty with Belgium to protect them. U.S. joined the war because Germany was using Unrestricted Submarine Warfare, sinking of the Lusitania and a Coded message from Germany to Mexico to form an alliance against the United States. This means German submarines are going to destroy or attack any enemy or neutral ship that is anywhere near the British Islands. One of the main non-enemy ships that the Germans sank was the Lusitania in 1915.
How it works
This was a British passenger liner, this accident to cause 1,198 people to die. It was shot by a German submarine missile off the Irish Coast. On April 2, 1917 Woodrow Wilson asks congress for declaration on war and 4 days later the congress approved and that is how the U.S. got into World war I. Here are the main countries who fought in World War I. Austria declare war on Serbia declares war on Germany declares war on France declares war on Turkey declares war on Russia declares war on Bulgaria declares war on Britain and finally U.S declares war on Germany. Italy, Germany, and Austria-Hungary are the Triple Alliance. United Kingdom, France, and Russia is the Triple Entente.
