Andrew Jackson – President
Andrew Jackson was a wealthy man and he became a wealthy tennessee lawyer. Andrew Jackson was elected march 15, 1767. He was an american soldier who served as the seventh president. He gained fame as a general in the united states army. Jackson was also born in poverty. He won the popular vote for president three times. Andrew Jackson’s parents migrated from ireland, and they were born in ireland’s country antrim. Andrews parents were Elizabeth and Andrew Jackson. He came from a very wealthy family.
He was married to Rachel Jackson and they had two kids, their names were Hugh Jackson, and Robert Jackson. Andrews dad died before he was born, so the mother had to take care of him. Jackson became an orphan in his early childhood due to war and he knew very little about himself. Andrews parents were scots-irish colonists who soon had became americans. He was also the first attempted presidential assassination.
Jackson was the only president to have been a former prisoner of war. Jackson was 13 years old when he had first joined the war. He also adopted two native american boys. He had led campaigns against the creeks and the seminoles and he was a notorious gambler. Jackson loved to play cards and spend money on gambling. He gambled all of his grandfather’s inheritance on a trip to Charleston, south carolina. The thing that Jackson enjoyed the most was racing and wagering on horses. Jackson also killed a man in duel and he was also a slave owner. Jackson was a landowner, and he became a national war hero. Jackson was elected as the seventh president. He died June 8th, 1845, and his nickname was old hickory. His political party is a democrat. He was self taught too become a lawyer. Jackson was friends with aaron burr and he also bought slaves. Jackson got popular by running for president. Jackson wife divorced her first husband too get with jackson. Andrew and his wife did not have any kids. Also andrew jackson had a military career. He was the son of irish immigrants. The exact location of where he was born is still unknown. The British invaded the Carolinas in 1780-1781, and Jackson’s mother and two brothers died during the conflict, leaving him with a lifelong hostility toward Great Britain.
Jackson had refused to shine an officer’s boots and the officer had struck him across the face with a saber, leaving lasting scars. He also severed congress at a young age. He was the main founder of the modern democratic party. In my opinion, i think he was a bad person. He did a lot of bad things and he was not a great person. He owned slaves and that was not right.
