Andrew Jackson`s Story

Andrew Jackson lived a truly epic life. Jackson had joined the local militia as a courier, and when captured by the British was scarred by the sabre of a haughty officer. His father had died before he was born, and his mother died from cholera, later on Andrew Jackson came out of the American Revolution an orphan. Eventually in his life he rose from his beginning to become the victor of the Battle of New Orleans and ultimately President of the United States.

I think that the history should view Jackson as a good president.

It says “Jackson’s success seemed to have vindicated the still-new democratic experiment, and his supporters had built a well-organized Democratic Party that would become a formidable force in American politics.” Andrew Jackson did not defer to Congress or hesitate to use his presidential veto power. Andrew Jackson was a threatening person. When South Carolina had began a threatening session, Jackson told a South Carolinian, “If a single drop of blood shall be shed there in opposition to the laws of the United States, I will hang the first man I can lay my hand on engaged in such treasonable conduct upon the first tree I can reach.”

Jackson was the first popular elected president. From what he said, I can tell that he was one of those people you don’t want to mess with and will want to do what he tells you to do. I think he was not the best president, but he was a medium rated president, considering that a lot of the stuff that he did was bad does not full compare to how he was a good president. He was a highly educated man, and he was able to get his jobs done that needed to be finished. Andrew Jackson framed the Indian removal as an issue of humanity, arguing that if the tribes remained in the East they would be doomed to extinction but if they resettled in the West then their cultures would flourish.

Andrew Jackson rose from poverty to become a lawyer, landowner, multi-millionaire, founder of the Democratic Party and major military general. That is why I had found him as a medium rated president.
