How it works

“Over the years, countries have gone to war for many things. War has been waged for countless reasons but is still a wrinkle in the brain. We have fought over anything, and everything that truly mattered to us. In the 16th century there were numerous events that led up to the Protestant Reformation. The corruption in the Catholic church, resulted in the split of the Catholic and Protestant churches. When the church began to take on the role of God, it displeased people. Wars are started with one person or a group of displeased people. America have fought over Gas, Bills, Civil Rights and much more. One person had changed nations before. Although it is easy to judge the Protestant actions, we should judge the facts, but their actions have been justified.

John Calvin was the father of reformed Christianity, he wanted to start from scratch to completely reform the church. Although most were grateful, some did have concerns about John Calvin message. John Calvin had a Systematic Theology and believed in having positive and negative experience, believers were often upset with the terminology Calvin used. Calvin often also uses the word “”experience,”” along with other words amounting to the same thing, to direct the reader toward the troubling realities encountered in the life of faith that are difficult to harmonize with the fundamental message of the gospel (Wright). Being a Believer and following a righteous path, some Believers could feel as if bad thing should not happen. With Calvin using the word experience helps one to understand and cope with the awful realities of the world. John Calvin was a lawyer, so he took scripture and logic and put them together. He wanted Believers to know that God has control over everything, unlike others who led believers astray.

The Huguenots was a group of Protestants who survived the war, so that they could worship freely. They were protected minorities; the Huguenots only wanted the freedom of worship and civil rights as one should. Huguenots often ran leaving their homes going to other countries, they feared that if they stayed, they would be killed. In the Battle of Ivry Prince Henry of Navarre led Huguenot forces against the Catholic League at the Battle of Ivry in Normandy, resulting in a decisive victory (Society of America). After which the Huguenots was giving the right to worship in their own way. When the Huguenots left France they settled in America, they Huguenots became a great asset to the American colonies they offered countless services to the Americans. Irénée du Pont a French-American chemist and industrialist brought his expertise for making gunpowder learned from the eminent Lavoisier; and Apollo Rivoire, a goldsmith, was the father of Paul Revere, master silversmith and renowned patriot (Society of America).

The Catholics concern with the Huguenots was that they would take over, when they started to rise in the noble houses it arose fear, the Wars of Religion between Catholics and Huguenots raged for more than 30 years and included the most infamous massacre of Protestants in European history: the slaughter of thousands of Huguenots in Paris on St (Historic). When Martin Luther and John Calvin had become and influence on believers which started to cause believers to remove themselves from the Catholic Church and related more to Christianity, where Believers could have their own personal relationship with God. The Catholics did not care for these actions, which led the Catholics and Huguenots to war.

During the Militant Period their organization and the way the worshiped gave them the power to expand, and slowly the Huguenots seeped into the noble ranks. Many kingdoms and colonies had allowed themselves to be tainted by the Huguenots and adopt their knowledge of a new worship, In response the government adopted a policy of extermination: hundreds of villages were burned and their populations massacred (Camisard). This was away for the royal government to do away with the Huguenots and their followers.

The Protestant Reformation open doors for countless number of new western Christianity, it changed the way one viewed themselves. Catholics made it seem to believers that they had control over where their souls would go in eternity. Martin Luther wanted to focus on the corruption of the Catholic church his “95 Theses,” which propounded two central beliefs—that the Bible is the central religious authority and that humans may reach salvation only by their faith and not by their deeds—was to spark the Protestant Reformation (Editors). The 95 These was a list of questions and propositions that was used for debate, Luther then took this document and nailed it to the church doors. He did this to express his concern within the church, and to challenge other Believers to voice their concerns with him.

The Catholic Church had Believers under the impression that they could buy their way into heaven or buy God’s favor, and Luther felt as if they were creating their own bylaws as to how to get into heaven. The word Protestant began to be used for those of who supported the protest, and who followed behind Luther. The Pope condemned Martin Luther’s 95 These stating that hey conflicted with what was being taught at the church, some called it a scandal, and some found this to be gravely offensive. Luther had to report to the Diet of Worms on the grounds of him not being willing to recant his statement, after being asked by the Pope.

The backlash of Luther writing his 95 These was treacherous Johann Tetzel responded to the Theses by calling for Luther to be burnt for heresy and having theologian Konrad Wimpina write 106 theses against Luther’s work (95These). Luther believed that the way you would get to heaven was following the path of God, not thought adhering to the Catholics Churches beliefs. Once Luther was summoned, they would try to make him Believe that if he recanted his statements that his sins would be forgiven. Luther’s intentions were not to undermine the Church, but simply get them to stop trying to make money on the belief of salvation. When Luther burned the Popes letter after being excommunicated that broke all ties with the Catholic Church, the supporters hid Luther after Henry called for his arrest. Once Believers started reading Luther’s 95 These, they started to challenge the Church as to where the Lutheran Church came into play.

The Diet of Worms did not become a known factor until Martin Luther was called in for reasons of Hersey, this considered to be when the Holy Roman Empire assemble. The Diet of Worms also issued a decree called the Edict of Worms”. “Fight for our rights or fall for anything. Over the years, countries have gone to war for many things.
