How it works

Holistic Medicine is a treatment that assists the body mentally and physically. Many doubt the advantages and are uncertain of some of these alternative medicines. However, there are many studies done that show that there are some these treatments do assist these illnesses. Asthma, a condition where the airways increase in size, get narrowed, swell up and produce extra mucus, would lead to breathing difficulties. As a person who currently has this condition, an alternative medicine would be a better choice than normal drug medicine.

The holistic medicine being introduced in the test trials and explore their benefits are lavender oil, fish oil, and lyprinol. In “Lavender essential oil inhalation suppresses allergic airway inflammation and mucous cell hyperplasia in a murine model of asthma, by Life Sciences published 2014,”Dietary Enrichment with 20% Fish Oil Decreases Mucus Production and the Inflammatory Response in Mice with Ovalbumin-Induced Allergic Lung Inflammation by the Department of Biomedical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine and Oregon State University published 2016 and “Lyprinol reduces inflammation and improves lung function in a mouse model of allergic airways disease L. G. Wood et al Marine lipid extracts for allergic airways disease by Centre for Asthma and Respiratory Diseases and Hunter Medical Research Institute published 2010. We’ll be able to see the results of the experiments which would demonstrate that the use of holistic medicine isn’t just a myth but a real alternative solution to the symptoms of asthma such as inflammation.

According to the article. “Lavender essential oil inhalation suppresses allergic airway inflammation and mucous cell hyperplasia in a murine model of asthma, by Life Sciences(2014) states that breathing in diluted Lavender essential oil, which can be done by using an essential oil diffuser, may help reduce asthma and allergies symptoms such as inflammation. According to the Life Sciences,(2014) “They wanted to see the anti-inflammatory effect of lavender on experimentally induced in a murine model meaning a model made with mice(Tomoe). The duration of the experiment was from 30 to 33 days. There were two groups created while conducting this experiment. The Control asthma group which were stimulated by an injection of Ovalbumin days 0-14. Ovalbumin is the main protein present in egg whites which functions as a storage protein. This was injected into the peritoneum, the body cavity. Furthermore, on days 28-30, they challenged with mist inhaled Ovalbumin. The second group, the asthma Lavender group, on days 14-30 inhaled diluted lavender. The results showed that there was an increase in airways resistance in the lavender group than in the control asthma group. The Lavender group compared to the Controlled group showed lower total cell number and eosinophils, which is a type of disease-fighting white blood cells, high levels indicate an illness or infection in that person. These were shown through the bronchoalveolar lavage fluids which are a procedure which an instrument passes through the nose or mouth into lungs and fluid is squirted into a small part of the lung and is collected for examination. Furthermore, according to the Life Science,(2014) “The lavender group showed lower IL-5and IL-13 Cytokine levels(Tomoe), which is the cause of several allergic diseases which includes rhinitis and asthma, which concludes that lavender group constraints allergic inflammation and mucous cell hyperplasia with suppression of T-helper Z cells cytokines.
