Chief Joseph : the Leader of the Nez Perze People

Unique traits and distinguishing differing viewpoints. Chief Joseph Chief Joseph was the leader of the Nez Perze people. This was a native American group of people who resided in Wallowa Valley which was in present-day Oregon. Chief Joseph and his people were push out of their land by the American government. Chief Joseph fought for the Wallowa Valley and their right to live on their ancestral land, he did not believe that it was right for them to be push out of their land when they were the first to be there.

Saum Song Bo Saum Song Bo was an American-Chinese who expressed his objection to the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 through a letter to Congress. In this letter to Congress, he expressed his disapproval of the building of the statue of liberty. In the letter, he expresses how he does not agree that Chinese must contribute toward building the statue of liberty when the Chinese-Americans are deprived of there rights as Americans.

For Saum Song Bo freedom is the expulsion of the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. Booker T. Washington Booker T. Washington was an African-American civil rights activist. He was the founder of a program called industrial education. Washington created this program because he believed that African-Americans should adjust to segregation and seek employment with white cooperation’s to improve their overall economic conditions. Washington believed that vocational training was more vital than academic studies because in his beliefs vocational training taught African-Americans more skills that were useful. In the end all he wanted is African-Americans to be economically strong because he believed that African-Americans would gain equal rights with economic independence. W.E.B Du Bois W.E.B. Du Bois was also an African-American civil rights activist, who was influenced by beliefs of Booker T. Washington.

Even though Du Bois was influenced by Washington, he did not agree with this his ideology that African-Americans just need to focus on economic independence. Du Bois believed that there was so much more to issue at hand. Du Bois believed that along with economical independency there needed to be political and social equality. He wanted African-Americans to have equal rights in every aspect of life, from social, economic, and political rights. The viewpoint that I most identify with is W.E.B Du Bois. In my opinion, his viewpoint covers the three major bases that are needed to live in freedom. His idea for freedom just does not focus on economic independence, or rights over land but equal access to education, political, and social rights. These rights help the development of the people and increase their quality of life.
