The Teamwork Definition Engineering
As engineers we are usually classified as problem solvers. We either fix things that are already created, tweak an invention to make it better and make it easier to use for a user or create something from scratch. Either way, we make things easier for todays society and help advance technology. This is what our objective was for our senior project class. For us engineers to achieve our goals, we must begin with a thinking process. This thinking process requires a five-step problem solving methodology associated with the design process.
These five-steps are Optimum/worst case design, project management, team work and collaboration, having professionalism, and then professional development.
Optimum design activity always occurs in response to a users need. Before you can develop a problem definition statement for a design problem, you need to recognize the need for a new product, system, or machine. Before engineers can clearly define a design problem, they must see and understand this need. Defining the problem is not the same as recognizing a need. The problem definition statement results from first identifying a need. Criteria for success are the specifications a design solution must meet or the attributes it must possess to be considered successful. Once you've develop alternative solutions to your design problem, you need to analyze them and then decide which is best suited for implementation. Analysis is the evaluation of the optimum designs in order to accomplish adequate product development process.
What if a project needs to get done within a specific time frame? With product development this could be an issue in project management, a good strategy must be considered. A product development is based on a budget that can be handle in a specific timing window to target potential markets and make good use. There are many critical timing issues that new product introducers should consider as they attempt to capture intellectual property rights and facilitate early sales. Be sure to take the long view and weigh all options when researching manufacturing time frames to accomplish task. Another issue in product development is the implementation, which refers to the testing, construction, and manufacturing the purpose of the design. You must consider several methods of implementation, to achieve the performance of the product in any case or seduction that could be use.
Without proper testing at all stages in the product development, you may find yourself making costly mistakes later. Possible existing solutions to the project management issues is the way to start and then tear them apart to find out what's flaws with those solutions to focus on how to improve their weaknesses. Consciously incorporate new ideas, tools, and methods to generate an unique solution to the project management issues. Solutions to engineering design issues do not magically appear. Ideas are generated when people are free to take risks and make mistakes. Brainstorming at this stage is often a team effort in which people from different disciplines are involved in generating multiple solutions to the issues.
Teamwork starts with understanding who you are, how you operate, how your personality plays in, how you strive to an optimum design, and what your value system is. Being in constant conversation means you’re listening, talking, and reflecting with your team from the moment you start a project development all the way through to the end. People who are not willing to listen to others’ perspectives, prevents teamwork. Your team will commit to producing exceptional results to a project for an efficient design if they know they’re appreciated, and that teamwork is a top priority.
Values refer to the rules which an individual use, to make decisions which determine a person to be successful in their design of products there is a few key elements are needed. A person’s professionalism and professional ethics play a major role in how a person performs on the in the designs of products, it also determines how one becomes a success. Those two elements go together, without one of them a design of product may be affected negatively. Professional ethics and professionalism are balance, thus in case one is described as unethical such an individual is ultimately described as being unprofessional.
A Lifelong of learning is the concept that learning and opportunities can go beyond education, as well as traditional routes both academic and professional. In other words, there are ways in which lifelong learning can contribute towards the new global culture and new knowledge society, such as, improvement, training, teaching to development to be more prepare. Within the life of every education, the expectation is that they are growing personally within their own lives and professions of which will assist them in reaching the lives of their learners effectively for the purposes of intellectual achievement. This growth is received through that activity on the part of the education within professional development.
The purpose of this case study was to determine what strategies are essential for organization to improve product development process. I used the purposeful selection to explore the experiences of creative process of turning abstract ideas into physical representations. This is what distinguishes engineers from painters, poets, or sculptors is that engineers apply their creative energies to producing products or systems that meet human needs following certain methods. This creative act is called design. Each design should be evaluated towards the needs and strategies to gain the optimum approach for productivity and decreasing barriers. The results from this study showed that there are a lot factors that have a negative or positive effect on productivity. It is clear from the vast number of factors identified, reported and quantified and through the specific areas that I would understand product development process clearer to proceed to a better prospective as a professional.
