School Shootings have Become a Big Problem after Columbine
Many schools employed security guards, installed metal detectors and cameras, and permitted teachers to be armed. However, doing this did not change most outcomes. The problem is not allowing people to enter, it is a problem within the school. Students do not even feel safe at schools anymore they believe they have to sneak in guns to protect themself, and parents fearing for their children as well. Teachers and parents should become aware of the symptoms (bullied, distanced, negativity, and grades drop, and high temper.

Many schools have decided to upgrade their security system, especially after the Columbine shooting in 1999. Yes, it is a good thing to have the security system updated, but if schools want to prevent school shootings from happening, teachers and parents must start from the root of the problem, the very first incident that caused the child to believe that killing people was the answer to solving their problem. Adults must comprehend their child’s life, thoughts, sight, relationships, their passion and what broke them.
In the past five years there has been two-hundred-ninety shootings across the United States. Students believe they have to bring guns to protect themselves, but fifty percent that bring guns will goes off and ends up killing or injuring people. It is depressing that teens and children believe and fear that they can be killed at any moment. A 12-year-old boy, Javon, heard about one of the shooting and suspected that he would die at school too, so he wrote a will saying to give his friend his PlayStation 4, his Xbox 360 and his dirt bike. “I love you my whole Family you mean the most to me, You gave me the clothes on my back, you fed me, and you were always by my side” he what he wrote to his mother. Imagine what the mothers could be feeling know that her child believe that he going to die at school.
Teachers should have been aware if something was wrong with their students. Some of the symptom are; being bullied, distances, grades dropping, and negativity. Most people say school shooting happen as a result of bullying but that is not always the case.
