Random Act of Kindness
Every time I see and hear in the news about criminals are committed every day and became the reason for a lot of people to be falling dead or getting seriously injured for the rest of their lives, I think to myself that the world is going crazy. It is changing to be a cruel, wild, and scary place to live in. I feel so scary that the kindness and mercy in the world is no longer exists in people. That’s why I believe that kindness is super important, and we all should keep reminding ourselves of that and always keep that in mind. Personally, I’m really inspired by that saying in the bible that that to be wise as devils and harmless as doves. I’m trying my best every day to apply the saying.
Almost two years ago, I started working in Wendy’s restaurant which is in the airport, and I was new to the co-worker’s team in the kitchen. I was very nice to all of my teammates and as well they were to me except one lady who has been working there for about 7 years. She was hardly smiling or speaking to me. Although, I didn’t do anything bad to her, she kept dealing me so tough. And sometime, she was rude to me whenever I do any mistake and she was always talking bad about me to the managers and other coworkers. To be honest I was so bothered by her reaction to me especially that I don’t see any reason or excuse for her to do that only to me.
How it works
One day, she came and walk into the kitchen and she looked extremely tired and depressed to the point that made me feel sad to her and approaches her to see what was going on with her. First, I looked at the office and made sure that none of the managers was there. Then, I went ahead, brought her a cup of her favorite drink, and asked her to go have a seat or even take a nap if she would like to and relax and not to be worried I would do all of the work instead of her till any of the mangers appeared. She refused at first and I saw in her eyes that she thought that I was doing that to take revenge of all the bad things she has done to me and that I would tell the managers about her not working all the day. But I tried very gently and kindly to reassure her that I would never do anything bad or harmless for her and I really feel so bad for her and all what I wanted was to see her fine and happy. Finally, she relaxed, and I didn’t let her to work or do anything in the kitchen the hole day.
At the end of the day, she thanked me so much for all what I had done that day for her, and even offered me a ride to home since I wasn’t driving these days and was waiting for my father or brother to pick me up. I tried to tell her that she didn’t have to do that and I’m fine, but I was surprised that she insisted to drive me home. In her car and on our way to my home, I began to ask about her and what happened in her life to be that sad. She told me that her only daughter has a cancer in her lungs for about a year then and the previous day she went with her to take one of her chemotherapy sessions, and that every time she see her daughter has a session, she became very sad and depressed for her, and then she began to tear up and cry. I tried to calm her down and give her hope by telling her to be strong and faithful. God won’t let anything bad to happen to her daughter and that I believe her daughter would conquer that disease and get rid of it forever, God willing. I was very glad that I saw in her eyes that she became better and relaxed a bit when she listened to my talk and felt the kindness and love in me for her and her daughter. Now that I no longer work in that restaurant for almost, we still get in touch and call each other every now and then and I’m very happy that we became friends to this day.
In conclusion, I believe that we all should always trying to be kind and nice to people as much as we can, and always reach out to offer help to each other and never hold our hands from helping out as long as we have the ability to do and make a difference people’s lives even if these people are our enemies and keep hurting and doing bad things to us. I strongly believe that We don’t know everything about all of us; everyone has problems that he or she thinks that they are bigger than anyone’s. We are all sharing the same land and air, and we are going to a future we know nothing about but love ourselves and the others. The only thing we can do is to be nice to each other and treat everyone as we would like to be treated.
