Effects of Bullying on the Victim

Bullying is underestimated and often makes people feel like they are not good enough for anyone. Whether it is cyber or physical bullying, making people feel like they are useless is unacceptable at all times no matter what the situation may be. Any type of bullying can lead to negative affects on the victim including self harm or depression. Cyber and physical bullying are astonishing examples of man’s inhumanity to man because of the traumatic effects it can have on the victims.

Even though technology has brought good communication to the world, it can also take someones life in a second. For most children, it is easier to make hurtful comments and bully other kids when you do not have to say it to their face. There are so many different forms of social media and ways to communicate through technology that it is easy to get in touch with and bully someone. Since cyber bullying can be anonymous, bullies can post it to where everyone can view it without knowing who says it and it is more likely for people to become a part of cyber bullying. Just because cyber bullying is anonymous and through a screen, does not mean it will not hurt the victim.

It is never okay to physically bully someone because one never know what that person may be going through at home. Physical bullying is most common in middle school. Usually, the more popular children bully the weaker kids. The victims are normally kids that do not fit in with other people. Signs that one’s child is being bullied at school are having damaged or lost items, bullies like to steal or damage the victims clothing and possessions. Bullies will often beat up the victims. If ones child returns from school with any form of cuts, bruises, scratches, etc, you might want to consider talking to their teachers.

Another sign of physical bullying at school is ones kid is trying to avoid school or school activities. Bullies usually bully because of their own insecurities. It makes them feel better to bring someone else down rather than them being down themself. If the bully is insecure, it makes them feel less insecure to hurt a weaker person. All humans have emotions. Not only is it greedy to bully, but one does not know what they may be going through at home, maybe they do not even have a home. A victim of bullying may also be a victim of abuse, poverty, hunger, anything is possible. So never take advantage of people that are different, because one does not know how hard their home life may be. Even people that seem perfect may just be putting on a mask. Even if one is bigger and stronger than another person, that does not make it right to bully them because one does not know what they are going through.

The effects that bullying has on people is unacceptable. Victims of bullying are more likely to commit suicide or self harm than most people. Kids that are victims of bullying and have problems at home have the greatest risk of self harm. If children do not feel like they are supported or loved by their family/peers, they may have a higher chance of suicide. Kids that experience bullying have a high risk of developing depression and or anxiety. Signs of depression may be personality change, or losing interest in things. Depression can lead to self harm because when one feels like they are worth nothing, it lowers their self-esteem. Bullying can affect someone so much that it can cause them to feel useless and want to take their own life.

The effects cyber and physical bullying have on victims are impeccable examples of man’s inhumanity to man. Technology is a helpful way of communication but it can hurt one more than people realize. Bullying is unacceptable because one is not aware of the victims life at home and the results may be them taking their life. Bullying is too common and not humane. It is not okay to make one feel like they have no worth. Everyone should be able to feel loved and safe at school because at home one may not feel loved and safe. Never make someone feel useless.
