A healthier lifestyle is one of the positive effects, of banning smoking in public places. Cigarette smoking is a major harm to the human body, that can destroy almost every organ in the body. People are not aware of the risks they are taking, because society is what encourages, and promotes smoking. Many are unaware that smoking causes a tremendous amount of deaths than alcohol use, illegal drugs, weapons, etc. “As sinews become stiff, bones brittle, breath short, eyes rheumy, ears blocked, our bodies become a burden. Our physical incompetencies are an embarrassment”(Darkers). Smokers have a higher chance of getting lung cancer, stroke, or heart disease than some one who doesn’t smoke at all. The worse part of allowing smoking in public, is the effect it has on kids, and other people around. Breathing in the smoke can create harm to the body, this is called second hand smoke. Since children’s lungs haven’t developed yet, the smoke entering their bodies can create great harm. Many parents who smoke around their kids are causing them serious trouble. With the chemicals they breath in, it goes straight to their lungs and can possibly kill them. Over 3,000 people have died from lung cancer, and 10,000 suffered with heart disease. Parents need to be aware of what they are doing to their own loved ones, and smokers as well. It’s truly sad to see how lives of innocent people are being destroyed from smoking. Banning this in public places, eliminates all these causes that happen. Kids when going to restaurants, and other places with their families don’t have to suffer from others around them that are smoking, and there’s lesser harm being done to the world.

Another effect of banning smoking in public places is there’s less pollution. Tobacco control did an experiment where they concluded, that smoking produces ten times more air pollution that a diesel car. Many public areas have already took action and banned smoking. Owners of places know the harm it can do to the environment and people. Pollution is being created and spread outside tremendously if smoking was allowed in public places. In 2005, the California Resources Board made a report that consisted of monitoring the exposure outside of second hand smoke of the residents in California. This experiment concluded that smoking outdoors can cause death or serious illness, which can harm people’s health. The main point of this experiment was second hand smoking is the same as an active smoker. Outdoor dining areas are places that mostly ban smoking, because they know the negative effects it has on customers, but also the pollution it creates in the world. Positive effects start taking place when smoking is being banned in places. People seem to be taking part in trying to ban this issue. Pollution from smoking is something that is changing, because of the help from others on trying to protect this world from harm.

Lastly, when smoking is banned, businesses grow and get more customers. An example is it’s more family oriented, because kids don’t have to breath in the smoke that causes harm to their bodies. People aren’t leaving form restaurants because of the presence of smokers, causing them to cough, and their breathing in all that smoke. Lastly, another example is no need of wasting money on ash trays, if smoking is banned in public places. But nearly 10 months into the ban, feedback from owners of the bars that cater to the GLBT community is mostly positive. “We have saved a small fortune not having to continuously buy indoor glass ashtrays,” said Kelley Hoffman, co-owner of the community’s biggest bar, the Our Fantasy Complex. “And we are now getting ready to buy new carpet since people won’t be putting their cigs out on the floor. It hasn’t affected us negatively.”Allen Mairs, owner of Rain Cafe & Lounge, agrees, “The ban has been a total plus for us – many professional people are coming out that would not have before because they either did not want to reek of smoke or were affected by smoke through either allergies or irritation to their eyes”. (Parker)
