We should not Kill Children
Abortion is killing an embryo while it’s still in its mother's womb. When you have an abortion, it’s just taking the life away from someone who didn’t have a choice. It’s murder, which is against the law. Abortion can even affect the mother later on. Also, so many couples who can’t have a child are just waiting to adopt one. Some people may say that you have a choice if you want to have the child or not.
But unless it’s rape, you chose to have sex knowing you could possibly end up pregnant. This is all why abortion should be illegal.
To begin, abortion is murder, which is illegal, and many say it’s against the word of God. An embryo in the womb is still living, especially when you hear a heartbeat. Some requirements for something to be living are it needs nutrition, it can move on its own, and it shows growth. (Khan Academy) The Merriam-Webster dictionary states exactly “the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought” It clearly states that murder is a crime. Also, In the Bible, Leviticus 24:17 states “Whoever takes a human life shall surely be put to death.” The Bible is also very clear that murder is wrong.
Secondly, many families want a child but can’t have one. They could just adopt a child that would of ended up being aborted. That would be much easier than having to travel to another country to adopt a child. Around a whopping two million couples in the United States are looking to adopt a child. (The Federalist) In 2014, just under half that number, 926,200, abortions happened. (Gutt Matcher) About 108,000 children in the U.S. are in foster care, waiting to be adopted. (Adoption Network) If that 926,000 abortions didn’t happen, then there would be many more couples able to adopt in the United States and not have to to travel across seas.
Finally, abortion may cause future problems for the women, mentally or physically. Possible risks of abortion can be things like infection or prolonged bleeding. (Mayo Clinic) Also, women who have an abortion can truly have a wide range of abortion effects. You can end up having an incomplete abortion. Ramah International states “An incomplete abortion outlines that part of the fetus, or other products of pregnancy (placenta), may not drain completely from the uterus, requiring further medical procedures. This may result in infection and bleeding.”
Now, many people say that you have freedom on whether or not you want to have a child. Well, even though the child hasn’t been born yet, it still has the freedom to live. What if you were aborted? Aren't you glad you were given the freedom to live?
To conclude, abortion is murder, which is against the law. It’s the killing of an innocent human being. Two million couples are waiting to adopt a child and just under half of that number, is how many abortions happen a year, when those children could have been adopted into a very loving and caring family. Abortion can also cause physical and emotional problems for women. This is why any form of abortion should be illegal, and forever illegal.
