Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata

Satoru Iwata was the fourth president of Nintendo. He made the games Mother 3, Kirby,s Adventure, Mario Kart Wii, Wario World, Alcahest, Mario Kart Double Dash, Super Mario Galaxy, and Mario Strikers Charged. Satoru Iwata was born on December 6, 1959 in Sapporo, Japan. He went to school at Hokkaido Sapporo Minami High School.

In middle school he struck an interest in video games and computers. He was president of student council, class president, and was president of some clubs. He bought a programmable calculator using money from his allowance and dish washing job. On his calculator he made a game that he shared with his friends. After high school he went to the Tokyo Institute Of Technology. In college he studied computer science.

He started college in 1978. His teacher said that he was the best programer in the school. Satoru Iwata took an internship with a computer engineer. His mentor taught him how to build computers. He started showing different stores his games. In 1980 he was asked to join HAL Laboratory Inc. After college he became a full time programmer. This choice made his dad so mad that he would not talk to him for six months. One day he had a chance to meet with Nintendo. They hired him to make games for them. The first game he worked on was Balloon Fight. That is how he started working for Nintendo.
