What do we Call Investigative Journalism?
Investigative journalism
It's almost morning and the grass is wet with the morning dew, everything is calm and quiet and it seems like nothing can ruin the silence. And in that silence there is a man walking with a cart with clothes and empty boxes in it. Homeless. A car drives by and stops at the stop sign the homeless man is at. The man in the car looks at him and then turns his head, like he's not even their.
The homeless man wasn't always like this though, when he was 24 years old he had a job. He was a chief officer in the U.S navy But all that changed when he went out of the army. He got a doctor's note to go home and kicked out, and with nowhere to go and nothing to do he started to walk and now he is homeless. He used to be looked up at with great respect, and now he is invisible.
This man is 1 in thousands of homeless veterans in the world. People need to help the community, they need to help the homeless people because the homeless people also affect the community. most of the homeless people need help because they have a mental disorder and people judge them by their looks without getting to know them, and the story behind why they are homeless. As why the quote from the American speech, never judge a book by its cover which relates to the homeless people never judge a homeless person by his/her looks
People who are affected by homelessness is caused by mostly by mental illness, most people who are homeless are mentally disturbed and other things like that. For example War veterans are scared of big sounds from war, and some people have depression and other things like that. Most veterans have PTSD ( Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder. Homelessness is living out in the middle of the road where there is nobody to help you. homelessness affects the community. First of all they have an impact on the health and the vitality of the community that they are living in. Most homeless people have become homeless from losing a job because they develop something that other people don't understand so they get fired, and then they can't make a living because nobody will hire him, so they end up to live on the street. Most homeless people are homeless because they can't help it.
Homeless people are mostly homeless because they all have some mental illness or depression according to the homeaid.org homelessness is, in fact, caused by tragic life occurrences like the loss of loved ones, job loss, domestic violence, divorce and family disputes. Other impairments such as depression, untreated mental illness, post traumatic stress disorder, and physical disabilities are also responsible for a large portion of the homeless. Many factors push people into living on the street. Acknowledging these can help facilitate the end of homelessness in America. This shows that homelessness is caused by lots of different reasons and some people look at a homeless person and turns the other way thinking of the person as a dirty person begging for money. But, wait just a minute put yourself in their shoes what they must be feeling and why they are homeless.
As you can see homelessness is a big deal lots of it is because of illness or job loss or also because there is not a lot of affordable housing in America. So what you may be asking? So what? Well if you were a homeless person and you had a mental illness which cause you to be fired from your job and you were forced to live on a street and when you ask for food or money and people turn away how would you feel? The way you would feel is probably similar to how the homeless feel. So when you see a homeless person next time don't look away instead go up and talk to them you never know your smile and voice may just make someone's day.
