A Discussion on the Careers of a Firefighter, Chef and Beta-Tester

If I were to choose three careers, my top choices would be firefighting, becoming a chef, or being a beta-tester. My reason for choosing these three fields is simple: these are the areas that interest me the most. Being a firefighter carries an aspect of thrill and opportunity to save people’s lives. A chef role would indulge my passion for cooking. A beta-tester role would allow me to do what I enjoy most: playing video games.

A firefighting career would most likely require an EMT certification, a medical certification, and completion of the fire academy.

The starting salary for a rookie firefighter in Hillsborough county is $30,000. If I were to secure a position in the city fire department, the starting pay would be about $36,000-$40,000. The main reason I would like to be a firefighter is the exciting nature of the work and the chance to save people’s lives. The only drawback is that in order to save someone, you have to put your own life on the line.

Another career that I am considering is as a chef. I have a personal passion for cooking and I believe that I would enjoy being a chef, making my life very happy. Attending a professional culinary school costs about $25,000-$50,000. This cost poses a significant challenge considering my financial background. If I choose this profession, I could take out a student loan to pay for my education, but a chef’s starting salary is about $25,000-$30,000. It would be very hard to pay back my student loan. I would be working indoors, but under a hot stove. This would not be very comfortable and I would have to take a long time to consider this decision.

The last profession I have in mind is a beta-tester. It requires the least amount of education and is relatively easy for someone proficient in playing video games. The job would be fun and simple. I could make about $150.00 per game. Two cons about this job are the very few job openings and the necessity to build a large rapport in the gaming industry before I can attain a full-time position as a beta-tester. The road to achieving this career would be challenging, but the rewards would be fantastic in the end.

In conclusion, all of these careers would be excellent choices for my future, but given all my choices, I believe firefighting would be the best decision for me. It offers job stability, reasonable hours, and would give me great satisfaction in knowing I can help save someone’s life. Additionally, I could cook at the firehouse, allowing me to pursue my passion for cooking on a smaller scale. As for video games, I can always pursue that at home.
