But perhaps the most significant outcome was a renewed emphasis on scientific research and understanding of seismic activity. Funds were poured into studying the San Andreas Fault, leading to breakthroughs in our understanding of earthquakes and how they work. While predicting quakes with precise accuracy remains elusive, the strides made in the wake of Loma Prieta have undeniably made the region safer.
