Bob Marley’s Career
"One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain." Bob Marley was a Jamaican reggae singer born February 6,1945 in Nine Mile, Jamaica. Bob Marley had a rough life. From him being born into a poor family, to his father dying when he was only 10 years old. However, Bob Marley overcame his rough life and became one of the most greatest reggae singer of all time. From his big break to his career to his legacy, Bob Marley will be remembered for centuries.
Bob Marley got his big break in 1972 with his band, The Wailers. The band landed a contract with Island Records. For the very first time, The Wailers went into a studio to record the album, Catch a Fire. The album was 38 minutes long and is regarded as one of the top reggae albums of all time. The Wailers then toured Britain and the United States in 1973, making enough money to go back to Jamaica. That same year they recorded another album, Burin. This set off Bob Marley´s career in music.
Over Bob Marley's career, he has sold more than 20 million records. He also was awarded four awards including The Order of Merit. Marley became the first international superstar from a third-world country. In 1975, Marley scored his first Top 40 hit with, No Woman, No Cry. Marley has recorded 36 songs. His most famous song is Redemption Song, which was recorded in 1980. Bob Marley had a very successful career until his death in 1981.
Bob Marley died of melanoma at 36 years old. His final word were to his son Ziggy he said, "Money can't buy life." Marley was given a hero's send-off in Jamaica and over 30,000 people paid their respects. Even after Marley's death, his legacy still lives on today. His family is still producing music and his own music remains widely acclaimed. His legacy also remains within the Bob Marley Foundation. The Bob Marley Foundation helps fight oppression. Bob Marley's legacy will live on forever.
Even though Marley had a rough life, he overcame it and became a legend. He will be remembered for his incredible musical ability. He inspired people to stand up for what they believed in. Bob Marley said, " love the life you live and live the life you love." Bob Marley lived the life he loved and loved the life he lived. Through influential music he expressed many emotions to show love to his friends. Bob Marley will always be a loved and inspirational musician.
