How it works

Fast Food Project

Taco Bell has many reasons to be considered unhealthy. Such as, they use huge amounts of oil such as Soy Oil, Hydrogenated Vegetable oil which contains a variety of mixed oils in one. Taco Bell has ingredients that no one is aware of such as Maltodextrin, Torula Yeast, Modified Corn Starch, Soy Lecithin, Lactic Acid, and Caramel color. The Healthiest item on the menu is the fiesta taco salad and if you were to get it without the shell your total fat would be 21 grams of Potassium, 8 grams of total carbs,7 grams of sugar and 22 grams of protein.

The meal that I would like to go into detail about is the Fiesta Taco Salad that Taco Bell has to offer. The Fiesta Taco Salad is a combination of rice, cheese, refried beans, lettuce, corn tortilla and sour cream, usually with your choice of meat. There is a total of 904 calories within this taco salad. 49 grams of total fat from that 16 grams is saturated fat, 4 grams is polyunsaturated fat and Monounsaturated fat 21 grams. Cholesterol being 101 mg, sodium 1935 mg, potassium 1,221 mg total carbohydrates 80 grams and within that dietary fiber of 16 grams, lastly protein of 36 grams. 6 % of Vitamin A ,52% iron, Vitamin  b-12 35 %, Calcium 50 %, Vitamin b-6 25% and magnesium 36 %.

In order to avoid all the extra intake of calories you can create the same exact salad from a much cheaper price and it will be way healthier to eat. You can start by making a cooking your own rice. Next would be a great option to use pinto beans and boil them yourself instead of from a can which would contain so much extra sodium and other chemicals to keep the beans from going bad. Next , you can use fresh cheese from the deli market section which might possibly be a little more on the pricier side but will be healthier and taste way better.

You can use your locally grown lettuce that they sell at the markets and grab some ground beef and season and cook it yourself. Also instead of a whole taco shell you can use little pieces of tortilla chips within the salad. The meal will be a lot healthier then the taco bell option that contains lots of oils and processed foods. The meals macro nutrients will be different varied to the way you make it of your preference.

If you were to continuously eat taco bell you would gain weight dramatically because of all the extra oils and sodium that you are putting into your body and without the proper exercise to keep it off it will double very quickly. If you were to eat a healthy at home meal instead of from Taco bell and if you were to work out lightly you would feel much lighter the food that you are making at home will give you more energy because it has less fats in it then from taco bell. You need to put in the amount of exercise with the amount of food that you eat. Have an equal amount of input and output.

If you had to idea of wanting to lose weight with this meal the best solution would be to cut out the dairy and change your protein to chicken or fish instead of ground beef. Also to make it a more lighter meal instead of having rice as your base of the meal substitute it for more lettuce and cut out the rice.

If you had the idea of wanting to improve your health it would also be smart to get rid of rice as your base and make lettuce your main base. Get rid of all sodium within the salad and it will help out your cholesterol dramatically!

Lastly, if you were in sports it would be best to keep the rice and double your protein because you are working out so hard you will need to keep up with your intake. Your intake and your outtake must be equal in order for you to achieve your sports goals. The moderation of your meals must be watched you do not want to have too much fatty foods.
