People crossing the border illegally can increase the possibility of a terrorist threat happening. ""Terrorism and Illegal Immigration in the United States."" Open Borders: The Case. January 10, 2015. Accessed December 03, 2018. https://openborders.info/terrorism-and-illegal-immigration-in-the-united-states/. Apprehension rates for people attempting to cross the Southern U.S. border are high-about 25-50%.

An example was 9/11. September 11, 2001, was a horrible day for many people and changed the immigration system too. There was a total of 2,996 people that were killed on that day. Due to the terrorist attack, the government passed the Homeland Security Act. This act consists of three main bodies: The Customs and Borders Protection(CBP), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The main duties that this policy fulfills is adding screening, interviewing people with other nationalities, collecting data on international travelers, and etc. When this act was enforced, it lowered the number of illegal immigrants and lowered the risk of a terrorist attack happening. Although, the terrorist attacks have gone down tremendously; letting illegal immigrants inside can still cause grave danger to the society. Illegal immigrants are one of the causes of the economic crisis.""Economic Costs of Legal and Illegal Immigration | CAIRCO - Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform | Issues Legislation Projects Research."" CAIRCO - Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform. Accessed December 03, 2018. http://www.cairco.org/issues/economic-costs-immigration.

There are about 10,000 illegal immigrants that cross the border each day.Currently, there are 11 million illegal aliens that live in the United States. FAIR research suggests that ""between 40 and 50 percent of wage-loss among low-skilled Americans is due to the immigration of low-skilled workers.""Many native workers lost their jobs through immigrant competition. About 1,880,000 American workers get replaced for immigrants at their jobs. This not only interferes with the workers' wages but with their financial budgets to provide for their families. Illegal immigrants have cost billions of taxpayer-funded money for medical expenses. Many hospitals in the U.S. were closed down due to the hospital providing free medical service to illegal aliens causing them to go bankrupt. The net annual cost for immigration is between $67-$87 billion per year. The High Cost of Cheap Labor - Illegal Immigration and the Federal Budget, By Steven A. Camarota, Center for Immigration Studies, August 2004. Based on Census Bureau data, the study estimates that households headed by illegal aliens used $10 billion more in government services than they paid in taxes in 2002. In 2002, the total fiscal burden was $10.4 billion. If illegal immigrants were legalized and began to taxes, the annual fiscal total would increase to $29 billion. If we let immigrants in then America will be in more debt, and society will be in more trouble than ever. Murder and crime rates have increased due to illegal immigration.

The Crime Prevention Research Center provided data that the illegal immigrants in Arizona are less than 3 percent of the population, but is almost 8 percent of its prison population. About 4,000 first and second -degree murder convictions by undocumented immigrants were filed and makes up 13 percent. This is higher than their percentage population. Illegal immigrants are three times more likely to be involved in a drive-by shooting and are five times more likely to kidnap. Illegal aliens are more likely to put people in danger than native citizens. Illegal immigrants increase the number of drugs entering the U.S. As the illegal aliens cross the border, they tend to bring drugs also. Federal investigators think there are about 2.2 million kilograms of cocaine and 11.6 kilograms of marijuana that was brought into the United States in 2005. This increases the chances of people going to jail and causes the population to decrease due to overdose. In North Carolina, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) reported a ""significant increase in drug- trafficking activity.""This was due to an unprecedented influx of foreign nationals into the state. If immigrants are pursuing drugs, this will lead to a low population and more unemployment. By enforcing more security around the world, this prevents this from happening.

Illegal immigrants who associate with drugs will cause a downfall on society. Illegal immigration increased the number of gangs. Majority of the gang population are Hispanics. Hispanics make up 49 percent of the gang population. In addition to selling drugs, Mexican cartels are involved in human trafficking. This not only puts young females/males at risk, but also their families. Identity theft has been a known problem for illegal immigrants. One example was the incident with Tyson Foods Inc. Federal agents caught a Tyson plant manager in Monroe requesting as many as 500 illegal workers , with others photo IDs and Social Security cards. Many people have gone bankrupt, sent to jail and even murdered from identity theft. In order for identity theft to decrease, the government should be more strict on monitoring social media and profiles. There are many ways to limit the amount of illegal immigration occurring today. One way is to enforce the border wall. By enforcing the wall, less immigrants will be able to sneak into America. Another way to prevent immigrants from coming is by being more strict on monitoring the internet and phone calls. Expanding the number of ICE officers would be very effective also.

I believe that if there are more ICE officers then they will be able to catch intruders. Another effective way is pushing back on sanctuary cities. Expediting deportations will speed up the process for removing illegal aliens. Lastly, increasing the efficiency and number of immigration courts. All of these factors are guaranteed to decrease the amount of illegal immigration and will make our country safer. Therefore, illegal immigrants are considered a threat to society, and should not be tolerated by any means necessary. Although illegal aliens have increased the population and expanded multiple racial groups within the United States, it will continue to damage the society in which we live in. If the government improves the border security and make minor changes throughout the year, America will truly live up to its name.
